Vision
The Union Local School District is committed to identifying and supporting military-connected youth and recognizes their unique challenges. We are prepared to provide resources to promote the academic, social-emotional, and physical well-being of military-connected youth. Through targeted identification efforts and dedicated support, we aim to help these students thrive and connect with others who share similar experiences.

Military-connected youth are children with an immediate family member currently serving in the Armed Forces, including those on active duty, the National Guard, and Reserves. In Ohio, there are approximately 30,000 to 34,000 Military-Connected Youth, with about 450 in the East Central Ohio ESC service area. One of the biggest challenges schools face is identifying these students, as many do not self-identify as part of a military family. The Union Local School District seeks to identify military-connected youth through enrollment forms other activities. The Union Local School District recognizes that military-connected youth often face unique challenges such as dealing with family deployment, missing key events like graduations, and attending multiple schools during their K-12 years. Our schools have personnel and resources to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical well-being of military-connected youth and help them connect with others who share similar experiences.
